So while I was going to check on him the morning of January 12, 2013 I noticed that he wasn't there. I thought he was hiding and when I moved the plants I panicked. I ended up finding him in my open drawer and he had passed away he's in betta heaven and I wish he hadn't gone out so dramatically!
I did put him back into the water and watched him for a while but he had let go already
Wow, that is dramatic. I've never had this happen, where the fish died from being out to long, but I have had it happen.
I got a pleco and for the first few months he would jump out. But they can handle being outside water for sometimes even 2 days so he was okay. Then I had a little oto fish, I was moving him to another tank and I accidentally put him on the floor instead of in the water (I misjudged where the cup was) and I think I did something to him when I scooped him up and put him back in because he got a thing on his head and then died. And then I have my Red Wag's, I just got them from the pet store and I was putting them in my tank when one of them jumped out, I put her back in the bowl to transfer her and then she jumped out again so I just put her in the tank. That was scary!
It's sad when they die, but he is now up in heaven, with clear waters every day and lots of room to swim and make bubble nests.
Yeah Yogi (my plakat) lasted a long time before i found him and he would have made it if I hadn't panicked so much!
But Debata was a crowntail and he was also I believe ready to let go And also maybe plakat's are so close to their wild relatives that they can survive longer than those who are like crowntails, not as closely related
But I'm sorry that they all jumped at some point! I know how scary that is! I'm going to adopt my female tomorrow so I'm excited
Females make up for looks with personality, I have a female. I've never had any bettas of mine jump, Ghost was old (My first one) and then Spook got bloated or something, he was just a baby. And then Captain Cato got a disease and he didn't try to fight it, he just let go. Nira got really sick at one point, but she was a fighter and also I gave her medicine every day and she got better and now she is healthy.
